History
The first lighthouse was built in 1858 on land that later became an island due to the effects of erosion. The lighthouse was dismantled in 1913 and the second lighthouse was built on the mainland from the salvaged limber.
The lighthouse was decomissioned in 1972.
In 1994 a replica lighthouse was erected and remains on the site today.
"The famous tides of the Bay of Fundy move with deceptive quiet. Sheltered from the open sea, they ebb and flow to a record range unequal in the rest of the world."
